U-Haul once again released its annual migration data as tracked by “One-Way” U-Haul truck transactions. Themes kickstarted in 2020 continued strongly into 2022. Texas was the #1 destination for internal migration and the fifth time since 2016. Florida was another another top destination, ranking #2 and has been a top three growth sate for 7 years in a row. Virginia, Tennessee, Arizona remained top destinations for the past two years, and Georgia jumped up the rankings from #23 to #8 in 2022. Also notable were Virginia and Alabama, rising 26 spots from rankings in 2021. By the in large, the most consistent destination remains the Southeast, Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions. California and Illinois continue to see the greatest net losses of one-way treks, ranking #50 and #49, respectively, for the past two years. California has ranked 48th or lower since 2016.
